Timber

Timber is a natural product and the many species available vary widely in colour, characteristic and accessibility. Below is some information that may assist in deciding on the right timber for your handles.

Fittings

All handles are fitted with a threaded insert in the rear and are supplied with hardware for fixing. There are 3 different fixing types and each is suited to a different application:

1. Single sided fittings

2. Back to back fittings

3. Concealed fittings

Replacing Existing Handles

In most instances we can make handles to fit existing fittings.

To get this right we will need the measurements described below. All measurements are needed in millimetres (mm). Measurements required for numbers 2 & 3 must be taken from the hole centres.

  1. The size of the existing holes
  2. The distance between holes from centre to centre (only needed when the existing handle has 2 fittings e.g. rectangular handles)
  3. The distance from the centre of the hole to the closest edge of the door.

Please only supply written measurements, a photo showing a measuring tape or ruler to illustrate the measurement is unreliable with small dimensions.

Finishes

Handles are all finished raw ready for sealing, painting or staining. Often cabinet makers or builders will arrange the finishing of these products for you. However the application of finishes is relatively easy and suitable for any person in the mood for a bit of DIY fun.

Lead time

All products are made to order. The lead time is generally 10-15 working days from order confirmation plus delivery time. There are times where the lead time will vary from this, sometimes quite substantially depending upon work in progress. We do not carry stock so please check and consider these production and delivery times in your project plan.

Choosing sizes

The choice of handle size can often be one to the most difficult decisions to make when ordering handles. Sizing preferences vary widely from customer to customer.

One easy solution to help with the size decision is a very simple template. 3 easy steps:

1. Cut a template from paper or cardboard to the preferred size
2. Mount it on the door with blutak
3. Stand back to view

This will provide a quick visual representation of how the handle will look in situ and help you choose the size with confidence. Test out a few different sizes until you find the perfect fit.
