Barley twist is a window trim used extensively on Victorian homes throughout the early 20th century. Also known as a rope twist this window trim adds an elegant character to an old home.

Over time many have been damaged or removed. The barley twist shown here is a popular choice for home renovators wanting to restore original features.

Barley twists come in a pair with a left and a right twist. The ends finished with a turned cap and base. The cap and base may be turned to the original sample if it is available.

Traditionally both the left and the right mouldings are installed with the twist running downward and inward toward the window.
