Restoring Architectural Features: A Good Time to Fret!
When buying a home we often inherit little features that are not quite right. Take for example this gorgeous little Californian Bungalow style home. At some point in time, one of the arched fretworks at the entrance had been replaced with corner brackets.
As you can see in the ‘before’ photo, these brackets are not consistent with the rest of the decor and impact on the aesthetic appeal of the home.
The owner of this home knew best solution would be to replace the brackets with replica fretwork. The new fretwork was made to the existing arch dimensions and once installed restored the architectural consistency of the home.
“Nice result - thanks again!” Stacie, Victoria
To reproduce the fretwork we used the ‘before’ photo together with a hand drawing detailing all the required measurements, supplied by our customer.
This is a nice example of the many a simple solutions available when restoring or renovating period homes. Many period features can be reproduced and it is often worth a quick email to request a quote for any heritage project that you may be working on.
